At the foot of Etna surrounded by beautiful scenery and nestled in the hinterland of the towns of Etna, is the “I Portali” shopping centre, opened in 2007. An architecturally precious structure, unique in its type, it was designed with great attention to detail deriving from the passion of the owners. Extending over an area of 140.000 m2, it is divided into 2 distinct areas which are the “east” and “west”:

• the east side includes: the shopping mall spread over 2 levels, the multiplex cinema and a building that will host a hotel with forty rooms, ideal for meetings banqueting, events etc.

• the west side is also developed over two floors, and in addition to the presence of hypermarket, sales of medium and large surfaces and major points for food and beverage, the “Portali” dedicates an entire area specifically to office premises.


Facilities include: the easy access WI-FI, cash machines, pharmacy, tobacconist, newsagent, launderette, travel agency, tailor and hairdressers with beauty center are just a few examples of how we satisfy the needs of the consumer. Maximum thought is given to people with disabilities: starting with dedicated parking spaces, special toilet facilities, lifts and escalators that allow all of our customers to enjoy full access to all of our facilities. “I Portali” has always had a main aim of finding and realising solutions that can overcome any architectural barrier, just like with our parking spaces dedicated to future and new mothers and a nursery that is currently under construction. Care of “I Portali” is efficiently managed with the presence of a double sanitization system CIP (Cleaning In Place) and thanks to which they manage to carry out thorough cleaning and disinfection of the internal parts of the equipment, containers, tanks, pipes with the use of suitable detergents and disinfectants. Soon a new accommodation building with around 40 rooms will be inaugurated and will include also a large area to accommodate business meetings and receptions of all types. An area dedicated to the young with a creche, play centre and an eating area with restaurants and pizzerias will be available to the guests.

East Side

The immense and elegant mall is on two levels, boasts all comforts and is finished with attention to every last detail. It is a true oasis to escape the daily routine. Visitors remain fascinated by the dome that dominates the main square, “Piazza Grande”,in which there is an elegant city atmosphere. The large structure has lush vegetation characterised by palm trees, tropical plants, fountains, water features and elegant stairways; The architectural style is simple and refined, for an atmosphere tailored to be accessible to all in every part. Both in the planning and building stages, much attention was paid to the needs of the disabled. The mall contains more than 110 shops for all types of purchases: from the best men’s, women’s and children’s clothing brands, to sport, to home ware, DIY , and a well equipped area dedicated to entertainment and food; The Cinestar is a modern multiplex cinema equipped with the largest screen in the south of Italy, nine maxi theatres with Digital Dolby Surround audio and three dimensional projection and the creche service with entertainment for kids.
